چکیده

Pentaceratops sternbergii is an index fossil of the Kirtlandian LVA, and is known from the Fruitland and Kirtland formations, San Juan Basin, New Mexico and from the Williams Fork Formation of Colorado. We remove Chasmosaurus mariscalensis (Aguja Formation, Big Bend National Park, Texas) from Chasmosaurus and make it the type species of a new genus, Agujaceratops. Supposed chasmosaurine endemism or provincialism during the late Campanian in the Western Interior is not clear, as most of the southern chasmosaurines are younger than their north-

A Re-Evaluation of the Chasmosaurine Ceratopsid Genus Chasmosaurus (Dinosauria: Ornithischia) from the Upper Cretaceous (Campanian) Dinosaur Park Formation of Western Canada

BACKGROUND The chasmosaurine ceratopsid Chasmosaurus is known from the Upper Cretaceous (Campanian) Dinosaur Park Formation of southern Alberta and Saskatchewan. Two valid species, Chasmosaurus belli and C. russelli, have been diagnosed by differences in cranial ornamentation. Their validity has been supported, in part, by the reported stratigraphic segregation of chasmosaurines in the Dinosaur...

A Complete Skull of Chasmosaurus mariscalensis (Dinosauria: Ceratopsidae) from the Aguja Formation (Late Campanian) of West Texas

The recent discovery of a nearly complete ceratopsid skull in the Aguja Formation of southwest Texas supports previous conclusions that the Aguja ceratopsid represents a distinct species, Chasmosaurus mariscalensis. The diagnostic features of C. mariscalensis include an extensive anteromedian projection of the nasal between the premaxillae, erect supraorbital horns, and laterally rounded squamo...

The first reported ceratopsid dinosaur from eastern North America (Owl Creek Formation, Upper Cretaceous, Mississippi, USA)

Ceratopsids ("horned dinosaurs") are known from western North America and Asia, a distribution reflecting an inferred subaerial link between the two landmasses during the Late Cretaceous. However, this clade was previously unknown from eastern North America, presumably due to limited outcrop of the appropriate age and depositional environment as well as the separation of eastern and western Nor...

A New Leptoceratopsid (Ornithischia: Ceratopsia) from the Upper Cretaceous of Shandong, China and Its Implications for Neoceratopsian Evolution

BACKGROUND The ceratopsians represent one of the last dinosaurian radiations. Traditionally the only universally accepted speciose clade within the group was the Ceratopsidae. However, recent discoveries and phylogenetic analyses have led to the recognition of a new speciose clade, the Leptoceratopsidae, which is predominantly known from the Upper Cretaceous of North America. METHODOLOGY/PRIN...

Biostratigraphy of the Gurpi Formation in Sepidan section, Interior Fars basin based on planktonic foraminifera

In this study biostratigraphy of the Upper Cretaceous deposits (Gurpi Formation) in Sepidan section located in the Interior Fars basin (SW Iran) was studied. The Gurpi Formation in this section consists of 360 m lime shale, argillaceous limestone and shale laid continuously on the Ilam Formation and with a paraconformity under the Pabdeh Formation. Nine genera and 27 species of planktonic foram...
